Four flood gates of the Srisailam dam were lifted on Wednesday night and more than one lakh cusecs of water was released downstream into the Krishna river. The Srisailam reservoir is receiving heavy inflows from the Jurala project and Tungabhadra river as heavy rains lashed the catchment areas in the upper reaches of Krishna river. The Srisailam reservoir received an inflow of 4,11,467 cusecs on Wednesday evening. The Chief Minister, K. Rosaiah, asked the collectors of Kurnool and Mahbubnagar to be on vigil and evacuate people from the low lying areas.
