The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to go ahead with the conduct of screening test of Group-I services on September 5 as scheduled despite the demand from some Telangana groups to postpone it. The APPSC members, including four members from the Telangana region, who met on Saturday, took a unanimous decision to conduct the test. Officials said the issue was discussed thoroughly in the meeting and all the members agreed that there was no genuine reason to postpone the test. There was a dilemma for several days over the conduct of the test with some groups from Telangana demanding postponement till the issue of earmarking 40 per cent posts to candidates from the region was addressed to. Candidates from Telangana region too seem to be in favour of conduct of the test as scheduled and many have opposed the OU JAC's unilateral decision.
