APPSC Chairman expresses dismay at agitation

The AP Public Service Commission chairman Y. Venkatarami Reddy has said that he was unable to judge the merits of the agitation seeking postponement of the Group I exam of the commission on Sunday as it was only supposed to be a screening test to select 10,000 candidates for the main exam, which is most likely to be held in February.
Mr. Reddy reasoned out that the completion of the preliminary test on schedule would be a big breather to 1.81 lakh candidates who could not quality to the main exam since it would give them an opportunity to prepare for other competitive exams in the coming months. He felt the demand for 42 per cent quota in Group I seats for candidates from Telangana lacked substance because it effectively meant asking that 160 out of 10,000 candidates who took the mains be called for an interviews from the region.
