Panchayat Raj Minister Botsa Satyanarayana has appealed to students to ignore the call given by Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu to join his party's agitation on the tuition fee reimbursement issue for today and tomorrow. The Minister said at a press conference on Tuesday that the government had cleared most of the last year's arrears. He attributed the delay in releasing the remaining amount to the opening of as many as 85,000 duplicate accounts by the students and college managements. Once these accounts were rectified, the balance amount would be disbursed. Mr. Satyanarayana said the rules providing for insistence on 75 per cent attendance for sanctioning scholarship or tuition fee reimbursement were not framed by the government in isolation but in consultation with students' bodies, college managements, universities and educationalists.
