The water level in Kolleru lake has increased as a result of heavy rain in the catchment area during the last one week. With rainwater flooding the road leading to Gudivakalanka in the lake, people are facing a lot of inconvenience.The rising water level prevented vehicular movement on the route on Tuesday. Ramileru and Budameru, with heavy discharges, were empting into the Kolleru. Some 10 villages in Pedapadu mandal were reportedly affected by the flood waters of Budameru. Overflowing Tammileru waters entered Ratnalamma temple at Ratnalakunta under the Pedavegi mandal. The causeways across the Tammileru connecting the city submerged again, disconnecting the transport link for several villagers around the city. Six flood relief centres were opened and 783 persons rehabilitated. Some 20 medical teams were pressed into service, official sources said.
