Military forces will be on a stand-by in addition to over 30,000 policemen and officers being deployed as part of the unprecedented security measures for the Ganesh idol immersion in the State capital to be held on Wednesday. Technology would be used extensively to monitor the procession having acquired mobile video surveillance units with a mobile command control room and 954 wireless sets in addition to the existing 750, Hyderabad Police Commissioner A.K. Khan told a press conference on Sunday.

Forty officers of the rank of SP and above and four companies of Rapid Action Force were also drawn for security arrangements. Describing the final day procession as a challenge in which nearly 13,000 idols from city, Cyberabad and surrounding districts would be immersed in Hussain Sagar, the Commissioner said nearly 10 to 12 lakh people would come to Necklace Road and Tank Bund to watch the festivities.
