Cotton farmers suffered a huge loss due to the incessant rains lashing the district for the last one month in Krishna district. Cotton plants were damaged in over 50,000 acres in the district most importantly in western Krishna due to the heavy rains. The farming community is extremely concerned as the colour of the plant is fading and turning into red, which is an indication of undergrowth and very less yield. Farmers spent `15,000 to cultivate one each acre of cotton. The farmers asked the government to compensate them.
