Lord Ganesha to travel on tampered city roads
Officials and organisers are making full time and secure arrangements with just one day left for the Ganesh immersion, in the city. City Police Commissioner AK Khan held a review meeting with ministers from all departments to co-ordinate appropriately for the immersion activity. Although many departments are ready with their set of responsibilites for the ganesh procession on wednesday, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has not been able to make apt arrangements to meet the demand.
Many gigantic Idols of Lord Ganesha would throng to Hussain Sagar on the day of immersion. The Grand immersion would see idols from Balapur, Chandryangutta, Aliyabad, Shalibanda and other outskirts of the city participate in this activity. However the Road leading to Hussain sagar from Balapur and many other places seem to be in a bad condition. Apparently the recent rains that lashed the city, have left a couple of roads in a repairable condition.
The GHMC has not been able to repair and reconstruct all the damaged roads in a short time period. Now this could cause a high possibilty of inconvience to the smooth flow of traffic during the immersion. Even as officials from all the concerned departmnets have alloted funds from their end to repair roads, the GHMC has only taken temporary measures to cover up the damage.
Meanwhile Police officals state that though the same was reported to the GHMC no appropriate measures were taken. With just one day left for the Boisterous Ganesh Nimajjan, we will need to wait and watch how the GHMC would coverup for the pot holes and damaged roads.
