AA

Congress MP from Kadapa Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, during the continuing Odarpu Yatra in Prakasam district on Thursday, was floored by a group of women farm workers, who recalled the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekara Reddy's women-friendly programmes. Seeing the MP's convoy passing through, landless labourers came rushing to the road, leaving their paddy transplantation work, to see him and share their feelings with their beloved leader's son.

As young leader YS Jagan toured the 17th day in Ongole, admirers and followers of him wept in joy with a feeling of satisfaction, recalling the centrally-sponsored Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and the pavala vaddi' scheme for self-help groups, which significantly improved their living condition. The MP recalled the enactment of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest-Dwellers which had benefitted lakhs of tribals.

Tribal women who had gathered in large numbers at his meeting in Nagarujapallithanda blessed him. Falling behind schedule, the MP covered the mandals of Ballikurava and Marutur. He unveiled the statue of YSR in over 30 places. Accompanied by, among others, Mines Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Darsi MLA B. Sivaprasada Reddy, the MP described his father as a champion of the poor people.
