No water problem in city till June 2012: Minister

All the existing water sources of the twin cities are full' As all the existing water sources of Hyderabad are full and account for a quantity of 38.7 tmcft, the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board foresees no problem of continuing the existing supply of 335 MGD till June 2012.Announcing this on Friday, Municipal Administration Minister A. Ramanarayan Reddy said steps, however, would be taken to prevent wastage of water.

Out of the total of 7.39 tap connections in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area, water was being supplied on a daily basis only to 1.83 lakh connections. Efforts would be made to supply water daily to the remaining 4.1 lakh more taps in the next 18 months after improving infrastructure with funding from Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
