DGP warns electronic media

Director General of Police K. Aravinda Rao has warned of action against electronic media if telecasts inflammatory reports following the judgment of the Allahabad High Court on the Ayodhya dispute case. Expressing happiness that the electronic media had so far acted with restraint in not arousing communal passions, Mr. Rao told a press conference on Wednesday that the police will invoke provisions of cable laws and other statutes if there was objectionable content in telecast.
The DGP was hopeful that nothing untoward will take place in the State but said the police will leave nothing to chance keeping a tight watch on 40 to 50 towns in the State. The entire force has been asked to be on duty continuously for the next few days. The personnel would be allowed to go home only for food. They can snatch a sleep only at police stations, he remarked.

Don't post rude or nasty comments. Ethnic slurs, personal insults and abuses are rather uncool. Criticise, but know where to draw the line. No point putting in personal details or links, we won't publish them. |
