Ramesh takes charge as director of NIMS

P. V. Ramesh, Secretary, Medical and Health, has assumed additional charge as director, Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in place of D. Prasada Rao, whose term ended Wednesday. Dr. Prasada Rao succeeded director P. Rajagopal in 2004 and completed two terms and there were reports that he might get an extension.
However, the NIMS Employees' Union on Tuesday threatened to stop services if he was allowed him to continue as director for more time in view of allegations about his functioning and critical remarks in the CAG report about expenditure incurred during his tenure.
Dr. Ramesh, who took over charge, will continue to hold additional responsibility till the government selects a new full time director. Sources however say that the selection of a new full time director may not happen too soon in view of fluid situation in the State and the demand of TRS to appoint a person hailing from Telangana region as the next director.
