Congress to disburse aid from today

The Congress Action Committee for Telangana will hold its first meeting in Karimnagar on Saturday to extend financial assistance to the families of those who died or committed suicide for the cause of a separate State. In an attempt to display unity, Ministers, legislators and party seniors are being roped in to attend the programme at the DCC office there today.By organising the programme, the leaders intend to reiterate their commitment to Statehood for Telangana besides, winning the confidence of people.
Beginning with Karimnagar, where 62 families will receive the financial assistance, CAFT plans to organise similar meetings in all the Telangana districts. Meanwhile, talking to reporters, the officials said Congress leaders have raised funds to pay Rs.1 lakh each to the bereaved families. They have identified 62 persons including students, who committed suicide between November 29 last year and September 24, 2010.
