State capital remained peaceful on Friday A day after the Allahabad High Court verdict, the State capital remained peaceful on Friday but police invited the wrath of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and Majlis Bachao Tehreek parties for advancing noon prayers at Mecca Masjid.Despite objections raised by many over forcible closure of shops on Thursday, the police continued to do so on Friday as well.

Continuing the deployment of massive forces and the patrolling of trunk routes with armed policemen from Thursday, the police top brass persuaded local community leaders to advise the namazis to offer noon prayers at local mosques. Strangely, they did not insist on changing of prayer timing there except stepping up security.
