Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has exhorted party leaders and cadre to gear up for a sustained struggle against the government's efforts to promote liquor consumption to fill its coffers.Mr. Naidu said the TDP had decided to launch its campaign in support of strict regulations for the sale of liquor from October 2, birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

But, the party had decided to defer it by a week in view of the prohibitory orders in force.The Telugu Desam Party president paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on Saturday and recalled their contributions to the nation. The Telugu Desam Party president distributed bed-sheets to physically-handicapped persons on the occasion. He alleged that the government was promoting liquor consumption and people, including students, were getting addicted to it.
