KCR demands 25 p.c. bonus for SCCL workers

Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has demanded 25 per cent profit sharing bonus to workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited this year as against 16 per cent disbursed to them last year.Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Mr. Rao said he had authentic information that the State government was conspiring to pay a bonus of only 8 per cent which was not acceptable to TRS.
If this indeed happened, he said the TRS would be forced to take up an agitation. Mr. Rao justified his demand for payment of 25 per cent because the company had earned a record profit of Rs. 268 crore for 2009-10 with a production of 50.4 million tonnes which was also an all time high.Nonetheless, he felt it would be ideal for the company to extend the benefit before Dassera.
