Former PCC secretary Ambati Rambabu on Wednesday rebutted criticism made against Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy over the latter's submission of advance tax of Rs.84 crores for 2010-2011, and claimed that the tax remittance was made in lieu of sale of stakes in Bharati Cements.

Mr. Rambabu, who spoke to reporters here, sought to clarify that the advance tax was from the income netted by the sale of stakes in Bharati Cements owned by Mr. Reddy.

He also used the occasion to lash out at Mr. Naidu and a section of the media, which he described as yellow media, for having orchestrated a campaign to defame Mr. Jagan.
