A heavy turnout of pilgrims to Kanakadurga temple atop Indrakeeladri was witnessed on Friday. The temple priests adorned the presiding deity as Sri Durga Devi on the occasion of Durgashtami, the eighth day of the festival.

The pilgrim rush was heavy till the afternoon and there was only a slight drop in the later half of the afternoon. The rush, however, picked up in the evening.

The VIP rush too was significant. Notable among them were Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar, cine actor and former Union Minister Krishnam Raju, classical dancer Shobha Naidu, cine dance master Sundaram and SCR General Manager Jayanth.
