Meanwhile its was a long marathon procession, in slow motion, of the sea of feminine glory and glitter, grace and poise. Thousands of women dressed in myriad colours filled every inch of the roads in all telangana districts. An equal number of young and old men turned out to witness the grand finale of the nine-day 'Bathukamma' festival, the pride of Telangana. Women carrying huge 'Bathukammas' proceeded towards the water bodies near the temples to immerse them after paying final tributes.

Women and young girls came in their best. The women, particularly young girls, sported the long-forgotten traditional dress-langa-voni. All the streets in the town in telanagana wore a festive look with the women playing the traditional 'Bathukamma' festival with religious fervour and gaiety.The 'Bathukammas' were colourfully decorated and placed at the centre of a locality and women, in their best attires, participated in the celebrations by singing traditional songs. It was surprising to note that some women inscribed the Telangana word in the flower arrangement while some others depicted Goddess Durga.

After playing the festival, the 'Bathukammas' were immersed at all the major lakes like Hussainsagar, Kapra, Saroornagar, Kukatpally, Mir Alam and even at Durgam Cheruvu in the city. Later, the women distributed sweets and vermillion among themselves and bid adieu to the goddess.The district authorities made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of festival by illuminating streets and immersion points. The police presence was felt in large numbers to avoid any untoward incident during the celebrations. Traffic snarls were witnessed near Tank Bund and connecting routes as thousands of women assembled at Tank Bund to celebrate the festival.
