All Party meet discusses on farmers problems
AA

Lok Satta Party called for an all-party conference on saturday to organise a united fight against the anti-farmer policies of the State and Union governments. The Centre was harming the interests of farmers by not permitting export of rice and allowing duty-free import of palm oil and the State seemed helpless, said party president Jayaprakash Narayan.

He demanded the government to allow rice exports and levy import duty on palm oil to give a fair deal to farmers. While a bumper Kharif rice harvest is expected due to good rains, warehouses were overflowing even before the harvest resulting in crash of paddy price. With the rice price ruling between Rs.70 and Rs.90 a kg in international markets, Indian farmers would gain if exports were permitted without delay, he said.
