Rosaiah announces additional godown space

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has announced a plan to create 11 lakh tonnes of additional godown space in order to tackle the problem of storage that is sure to arise in the coming months due to the bumper foodgrain production this year.
New godowns will be built by the Food Corporation of India, the AP Warehousing Corporation and the Civil Supplies Department. While reviewing the issues of Marketing and Co-operation departments here on Monday, he also approved the proposal to hire private godowns for one year wherever necessary.
Addressing a media conference later, the Chief Minister said advance arrangements were made to provide adequate godown space to accommodate the record foodgrains production expected. Harvested crops were expected to arrive towards October-end and pick up momentum through November.
