Two students were killed and two others injured when the rifle of a security personnel went off accidentally during a weapon demonstration by the police in khammam on wednesday.

As part of the police commemoration week that began on October 15, police personnel were giving a demonstration of communication equipments and weapons to students at Velairpadu village in the district, when the incident occurred, police said.

The cop was giving a demo on loading and unloading the weapon, when it went off by mistake, killing a tenth and eight grade student identified as Venkatkrishna and Saibaba respectively.

Two other injured students were admitted to a government hospital at Khammam and the condition of one of them is said to be critical.
