The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, on Saturday directed the district collectors to take firm action on micro finance institutions that continue to harass poor people.

Participating in a video conference from the state Secretariat on Saturday, Mr Rosaiah asked them to follow the ordinance recently approved by the government and ensure registration of all MFIs in a week as stipulated by the High Court.

All the collectors should be vigilant about the activities of MFIs and control them with the help of the ordinance, he said. Rural and urban credit flow should also be improved to lessen the dependence of people on MFIs.
