Jagan writes to Manmohan

On the other side, Jaganmohan Reddy appealed to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure that long pending demand earmarking quota for the Dalit Christians was introduced. In a letter to the Prime Minister, the Congress MP said Dalit Christians were being discriminated against compared to Dalit Buddhists and Sikhs as far as reservations are concerned.
He pointed out that the Indian Constitution provides for religious freedom to all its citizens. However, Article 341 enacted in 1950 goes against the very spirit of the Constitution by its provision that any SC category person loses the right to reservation if he or she converts.
He lamented that Sikhism was exempted from the same initially following protests and Buddhism too was given the benefit but Christianity continues to be discriminated.
