Telugu Desam leaders court arrest in Delhi
AA

The Telugu Desam Party staged a demonstration here after a failed attempt to take out a march to the residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi seeking Bill on the creation of a separate Telangana.

TDP Parliamentary Party leader N. Nageswara Rao led the protest in which three MPs, 38 MLAs, seven MLCs, many former ministers and a large number of TDP cadres participated and courted arrest when they tried to break the police cordon.

The Forum would sustain the movement till the Bill was placed and the separate State created. The TDP was not against the creation of another State for Telugus as it had already made its stand clear to the Pranab Mukherjee panel and the dilly-dallying of the Congress would no longer be allowed.
