DS Dismisses Resignation Demand

APCC President D. Srinivas has rejected the demand by a section of his party leaders to step down from the post owning moral responsibility for the party's debacle in the By-elections to 12 Assembly seats in Telangana. He is learnt to have told the party leaders that though he was against contesting in the bypoll fought on the Telangana plank, he had to be in the fray on the insistence of the high command.
The party leadership was firm that his presence in the contest would act as a morale booster for other candidates. Mr. Srinivas said the election was held under special circumstances and the people voted for Telangana sentiment. he said The verdict was not for or against any political party and people gave their mandate to Telangana slogan. The PCC chief said he would write to the party's leadership explaining the circumstances that led to the results.
