Governor sacks SKU Vice-Chancellor

Vice-Chancellor of Anantapur-based Sri Krishnadevaraya University P. Kusuma Kumari has been removed from her post for committing grave irregularities in the appointment of faculty members. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, who is the University Chancellor, removed Kusuma Kumari in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section II of the Andhra Pradesh Universities Act, 1991 for wilful omission and refusal to carry out provisions of the AP Universities Act with immediate effect. The Governor's action followed the detailed report submitted to the Governor on July 31 by Justice A. Hanumanthu, retired Judge of High Court, who inquired into allegations against Kusuma Kumari. The report confirmed the charges of various illegalities and irregularities committed by her in appointing Assistant Professors without required qualifications during the 2009-10 academic year.
