TDP slams Govt decesion on Bar licensing

The opposition Telegu Desam Party has slammed the decision on bar licensing. Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that the government has opened the floodgates for liquor. The government is not able to provide clean drinking water, but it is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that liquor bars are available as per population, he said. It seems as though the government wants the people to get drunk and excuse its mistakes. Instead of showing its commitment towards allotting teachers based on the number of students in each school, the government is looking at the population for bars. 'This will be counter-productive for society and the Congress', a professor at Osmania university said. Andhra has the dubious distinction of topping liquor sales. According to market estimates, about Rs100-crore worth liquor is sold in the state every year.
