Pro-Telangana organisations call for boycott of State Formation Day
The fencing of Telugu Talli statue opposite Secretariat with a barbed wire and an armed police post under a tent adjacent to it present a glimpse into security precautions taken by the government for the State Formation Day celebrations today amidst boycott calls by several pro-Telangana organisations.
Leaving nothing to chance, police beefed up security in the State capital and districts to guard against attacks by Telangana supporters who feel let down by formation of the State on this day in 1956. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti and a dozen outfits even declared their plans to observe `black day' to mark the occasion.
The TRS said it would hoist black flag in its premises here.The Secretariat, road leading to the Chief Minister's residence, Ministers' quarters at Banjara Hills and Gandhi Bhavan have come under security cover.
