Scaler Launches UG Program in AI and Business: Bridging Technology and Business in the AI Era
Scaler introduces a fully residential undergraduate program combining Artificial Intelligence, product development, and entrepreneurship, enabling students to launch AI startups during their academic journey.
Scaler School of Technology
With its new AI + Business undergrad program, the Scaler School of Technology has created an interdisciplinary, 4-year fully-residential educational program option for students intent on working at the intersection of AI, product development and entrepreneurship. Unlike traditional academic paths where technical learning is distinct from management education, this new model combines both from the day of admission. A required part of each student’s educational journey is the creation of a start-up company.
While sharing his vision for the creation of this new program, Anshuman Singh – a previous engineering leader at Facebook Messenger – expressed how current trends in business show that AI has fundamentally changed how modern companies are created. The availability of tools that enable almost instantaneous product development and testing has transformed this process, yet innovation still requires knowledge of systems, identification of relevant problems to solve, and the development of sustainable business models in order to achieve success.
Henceforth, the program is centered around experiential learning instead of purely theoretical instruction.
The curriculum is designed to follow structured, application-driven pathways. The first year focuses on building a solid foundation in programming, mathematics for AI, communication and structured thinking, through hands-on projects. The second year will introduce students to production-grade systems, AI models and go-to-market fundamentals. In the third year, students will be able to work with early-stage ventures via the Scaler Innovation Lab, learning about product strategy, growth metrics and operational issues. The final year of study will put students into "Founder Mode" as they are required to launch and try to scale their own AI startups.
The program's impact is further enhanced by industry mentorship and career support. Students interact with experts from companies such as OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and NVIDIA and will have placement opportunities through partnerships with Amazon and Microsoft when they graduate. The early cohorts of students have already received innovation grants from Samsung and have interned for companies such as Apple, indicating positive outcomes for them. With such limited capacity, coupled with a holistic approach to admissions, the program will develop future-ready professionals that possess both technical skills and entrepreneurial vision.
